What’s Playing?: Practice of Madness Music

:siul  By reader request!

Here’s a list in order of what’s playing right now with a few personal notes.  It’s getting longer, so I’m soon going to start a new one and make this one available for download, like I did with the last “soundtrack”, in the not too distant future.  Check out last “chapter’s” soundtrack if you haven’t -  you can find it under “Practice of Madness Soundtracks” in the section of links to pages at the very top of the screen.  I bet you’ll enjoy it if you like what’s playing now:

  1. The Dresden Dolls – Delilah  (From Album “Yes, Virginia”  )
  2. Laura Marling – Goodbye England  (From Album “I Speak Because I Can” my favourite album in the world right now!  Here are videos for “Devil Spoke” and “Rambling Man” – one of my top three on the album. )
  3. The Dresden Dolls – Dirty Business  (From Album “Yes, Virginia”  )
  4. Wilco – Company in My Back  (From Album “A Ghost is Born”  )
  5. Cocorosie – Smokey Taboo  (From Album “Grey Oceans” [another favourite at the moment - in my opinion these two gals can do no wrong!  Albums "La Maison de Mon Reve" and "The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn" are equally fantastic.  Cocorosie has defined the genre of "freak folk" just as Portishead defined "trip hop" back in the nineties.  Click here for an awesome compilation of their videos and music] )
  6. Neonbelle – I’ve Got Tricks Up My Sleeve  (From Debut Album “In a Cabin With” [this song was listened to on many bus trips up "the hill" - Burnaby Mountain - to teach introduction to sociology classes.  The only time I felt alive during my experience as a student at Simon Fraser University as a graduate student was when I was teaching, which felt very much like a performance] )
  7. P.J. Harvey – Angelene  (From Album “Is This Desire?”  )
  8. Tori Amos – Space Dog  (My favourite musician and – composer! …and my faviourite album out of the eleven the living goddess [yes, I'm a little obsessed, not unhealthily!  :siul: ] has released, “Under the Pink”. )
  9. Laura Marling – Alpha Shallows  (From Album “I Speak Because I Can”  )
  10. Radiohead – The Bends  (From Album “The Bends”  )
  11. Regina Spektor – Somedays  (From Album “Soviet Kitsch”  )
  12. Tori Amos – Rattlesnakes (cover)  (From Cover Album “Strange Little Girls”  )
  13. Bright Eyes – Firewall  (From new Album “The People’s Key”  )
  14. The Dresden Dolls – Modern Moonlight  (From Album “Yes, Virginia”  )

I love to be introduced to great new music, so if you enjoy what I play here and think I would like something that you like but I may not know about, please, do, let me know!  I’d be very interested to hear what some of the songs on the soundtracks of your lives are.
